Greg Wall – Chief Executive Officer

Greg comes to Capricorn as an experienced Chief Executive in the mutual space with a strong financial services background in retail and commercial banking. Greg has significant CEO/Managing Director experience in financial services with over 11 years as CEO of State West Credit Society and two years as Managing Director of Home Building Society (HBS).

Prior to his CEO/Managing Director roles, Greg held executive roles with Challenge Bank including Head of Marketing and State Manager for Western Australia.

Since Bank of Queensland acquired HBS in 2008, Greg has been consulting as well as carrying out directorship duties for a number of Boards. Greg's past and current Board Directorship  
positions include:

• Automotive Holdings Group Ltd, Director and Chairman of Audit Committee, since 2005.
• Freo Group Ltd, Chairman, since 2009 (a privately owned mining services and construction group).
• Western Australian Football Commission, since 2009.
• Ear Science Institute of Australia, since 2008.
• Gold Estates of Australia, 2000 - 2010.
• CUSCAL, 2001 - 2006.
• Edith Cowan University, 1990 - 1995.

Greg has had exposure to a range of businesses through his consulting and directorship roles in the automotive, property and heavy equipment sectors. He has also had exposure to Capricorn through serving as a Director on Automotive Holdings Group.

Greg was born and raised in Western Australia, spending most of his professional career in Perth. He is married and has two adult children.

Greg officially started with Capricorn on 22nd August 2011.

 

David Fraser - General Manager Automotive

David commenced his career in the automotive industry in 1980 with Coventry Group Limited in South Australia. David’s career continued to develop through the middle and senior management ranks of the Group and he moved to its corporate office in Western Australian in 1997. In the late 90's and until mid-2005 David was Group General Manager - Automotive, and was responsible for the sales, marketing and administration of the Groups Western region automotive businesses. During this period he was also a Director of Coventry Auto Parts and an Associate Director of Coventry Group.

In July 2006 David joined Capricorn Society reporting directly to the CEO and he is a member of Capricorn's Executive Leadership Team. As General Manager Automotive he is accountable for the development, maintenance and management of the overarching Member and Supplier strategy, the overall management of trading terms, product and service performance and the management of the Automotive business unit. His accountabilities also include developing and driving growth initiatives and expansion into new markets throughout its three countries of operation - Australia, New Zealand and the Republic of South Africa.

David is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, he holds an Associate Diploma in Marketing, is an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and an Associate Member of the Australian Marketing Institute.

David has served as a National Councilor and Director of the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association (2001-2005) as well as being the Chairman of the AAAA's sub-committee for the automotive industry e-commerce project in 2004. He re-joined the National Council in 2006, was re-elected a Director of the Association in June 2008 and was elected as its current President in October 2010.

 

Bradley Gannon - General Counsel, Legal & Risk

Bradley comes to Capricorn very well qualified having been admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of WA and High Court of Australia. Bradley has a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce (with a major in General Management), both from the University of Western Australia and he is a member of the Law Society of Western Australia. Bradley has held very senior positions including being a Partner with the Perth based law firm Solomon Brothers and his background has extensively involved the provision of advice and services relating to corporate governance.  Bradley regularly appeared as counsel in the Supreme Court of Western Australia and District Court of Western Australia and appeared as junior counsel in matters reported in the Australian Law Reports and Australian Corporation and Securities Reports. 

Bradley has completed and passed the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) Course Diploma requirements achieving Order of Merit status. Bradley has also completed and passed the Chartered Secretaries Australia Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance receiving awards for National Dux Corporate Accountability, State Dux for Corporate Governance and Corporate Financial Management and the Ian Falconer Rio Tinto National award for academic excellence.

Bradley was appointed as Company Secretary/General Counsel to Capricorn Society Limited in July 2008.  In December 2010, his role was expanded to include management of Capricorn's risk management, compliance and internal audit frameworks. Bradley is involved in providing advice and assistance to the Board and Chief Executive Officer in discharging Capricorn’s corporate governance requirements in all 3 countries, leading the Risk, Compliance and Audit teams, providing the administrative and secretarial functions as required by the Directors and assisting ELT in ensuring Capricorn's operations are protected by the provision of legal counsel and guidance.

 

Jason Frost - General Manager Strategy and Shared Services

Jason joined Capricorn in November 2008.

The Strategy part of Jason’s role is focused on assisting the Capricorn Leadership Group in the shaping of effective Capricorn Group strategies to maximise benefits to the members.  These strategies outline where Capricorn is going over the next 1 to 5 years.  To implement these strategies requires a number of projects within the business to make the necessary changes to systems, processes and training of people.  To promote effective delivery of strategy Jason leads a central team of project management professionals to drive key strategic projects across the group.  This team applies project management methodology and discipline to ensure Capricorn projects are delivered cost effectively, on time and produce the benefits expected.

Jason’s strategy responsibilities also include the evaluation of potential emerging business opportunities and incubating these businesses to a point where they can be fully integrated into Capricorn business operations.  Capricorn Finance is one of these new ventures, the business unit was set up in 2009 to provide lending products to Capricorn members.  Another new venture is the ineedaservice.com.au online booking service, this is currently being evaluated with customers of Capricorn Members.

There are also a number of important teams reporting to Jason that provide valuable services internally to the rest of the Capricorn Group.  They assist the member and supplier facing teams in Capricorn to meet the needs of our members and suppliers.  These teams are focused on providing effective and efficient services and include;

-          Group Marketing ;

-          Human Resources;

-          Information Technology;

-          Travel & Events

-          Credit Services;

-          Records Management;

-          Procurement and facilities management;

Jason's professional career began with PriceWaterhouseCoopers, working with clients in the Oil & Gas Industry, Engineering, Manufacturing and the Public Sector.  Prior to Capricorn Jason spent thirteen years working in the financial services industry in Sydney for the Westpac Banking Corporation in a variety of roles including internal audit, tax and compliance, IT systems management, operational risk management and project management.  His role prior to joining Capricorn was with BT Wealth Management Group in Sydney as a Program Director for the Financial Planning part of the business working on projects to support the 700 BT Financial Planners working across Australia.

In addition to his broad experience Jason is a Chartered Accountant and holds formal post graduate qualifications in Financial Planning, Project Management and Process Improvement and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

 

Tremayne West – General Manager Protection

Tremayne commenced as GM Protection with Capricorn on May 2nd 2011

Tremayne is an experienced insurance executive, with ten years of relevant general insurance experience, including both personal and commercial lines. Tremayne’s engineering background and qualifications coupled with his MBA, demonstrate a results oriented approach and a natural passion for efficiencies that has enabled him to drive key outcomes in all the senior roles he has held over his career.

Prior to joining Capricorn, Tremayne worked with Allianz Australia where he was Head of Strategy Research and Development, responsible for group wide corporate strategy, market and competitor research, customer analytics and proposition development including new products and value propositions. Prior to this role, Tremayne was National Operations Manager – Broker and Agency for Allianz, responsible for all non-sales functions relating to the operations of this $1 billion business including project management, planning and reporting, change management/training, e-Business, compliance and management of the Division’s innovation and customer focus programs.

From 2008 until 2011 Tremayne was the Board Director and Chairman of ARHUB P/L representing the Allianz shareholding of the ARHub, a company formed to service the industry needs of Authorised Representative cross endorsement between insurers to relieve ASIC requirements related to financial services undertakings.

Prior to 2008, Tremayne also held senior executive positions with Vero Insurance (GM Affinity), Suncorp Metway General Insurance (National Manager Distribution, Workers Compensation) and also IAG – (National Operations Manager, CGU Business Partners) where his responsibilities were to manage all compliance, underwriting, training, administrative, service and clerical functions supporting the Business Partners Division contributing to the achievement of planned growth and profitability targets.
