  • Rob Mildenhall, National Panel Manager

Rob Mildenhall currently heads up the collision repair sector within Capricorn in Australia as National Panel Manager, as well as fulfilling the function of Business Development Manager in NSW/ACT.

His love for all things technical originated with his love of flying and aircraft, and Rob’s career started in the aviation industry where he qualified as an aircraft technician, specialising in jet engine test and development.

Rob has a strong background in senior management within the automotive industry, having joined Borg Warner in South Africa in 1982 and progressing with them through a number of promotions to be appointed as General Manager of Gearmax (formerly Borg Warner) Parts and Service Division in 1991. Rob served this position with distinction, expanding the network of branches across South Africa, and providing technical, warranty and remanufacturing services to most of the local vehicle manufacturers and their dealerships, as well as to the motoring consumer. It was in this role that he was introduced to Capricorn Society Ltd in 2000. Rob migrated to Australia permanently in 2010, settling on the Central Coast of NSW.

Rob served on a number of industry committees within the Retail Motor Organisation in South Africa, most prominently as the Chairman of the Motor Industry Workshop Association for many years, providing guidance and improving quality and training within their members. He served as Chairman of the Business Chamber, was a member of the Executive Committee of the RMI and served as a member of the RMI’s Board of Directors. It was here that Rob’s involvement with the panel industry increased substantially. Working within the lead panel industry associations of NADA and SAMBRA and the development and implementation of trading and grading programs for the Workshop association gave him deep insights into the workings and challenges of these industry sectors. These positions personify his passion and commitment to his work and service to the greater industry he has had contact with. He has an endless quest for knowledge and loves sharing that which he learns with his colleagues and peers.

Within the BDM role, Rob has the responsibility for key supplier relationships across NSW with the O.E. Dealerships, Paint, Automotive Recyclers, Transmission, Commercial, Diesel and establishments who provide training services to stakeholders of Capricorn.  His role as National Panel Manager has Rob responsible for raising the profile of Capricorn within the panel sector, and encompasses inter-action with all stakeholder groups, both internal and external to Capricorn.

Rob continually  works with the supply and sales teams aiding membership activity and recognition of Capricorn within the panel sector as a valuable resource to both the Capricorn members and preferred supplier businesses.

Outside of work, he enjoys fishing, motorcycling and listening to music with friends. He has 2 adult children and has 2 grandchildren, all still in South Africa!
