Aimed at bringing the automotive industry directly to students, three events will be held, in Roma at the Roma Explorers Inn on Tuesday, 5 March 2024, in Toowoomba at the Clifford Park Racecourse on Wednesday, 6 March 2024, and in Cairns at the Rydges Esplanade Resort Cairns on Wednesday, 13 March, from 4:00pm - 5:30pm, with participation open to all high-school students from the region.

Showcasing the full range of roles on offer in today’s dynamic industry, students and their parents are invited to come along and meet local automotive businesses and suppliers, who will share information about what they do, their connections to the industry and community, the technologies they use, and the local opportunities and career options available.

Attendees will get the chance to immerse themselves in the industry for an afternoon by taking a tour of the tradeshow floor, speak with Australian Apprenticeship Support Networks and Registered Training Organisations about employment, apprenticeship and work placement opportunities available, and enjoy some food and drinks.

MTA Queensland CEO Rod Camm said, “The evolving landscape of today’s automotive industry has made it an incredibly appealing time to get involved and pursue a lucrative career, with so many new and exciting roles just waiting for young individuals to come through and take hold of.

“No matter your background or interests, there is a job for everyone – whether that is in heavy vehicle, agricultural machinery, body paint and panel, motorcycles, or light vehicles - and events like these student industry expos are an important outlet that allows students to discover their passions.”

Capricorn Group CEO David Fraser said, “Capricorn is thrilled to partner with MTA Queensland and open our trade shows early for local students “Events like these are so important as they give students the opportunity to not only see the types of jobs available but meet the people doing the roles they inspire to be in. This gives them real insight into what working in automotive is really like”.
