Director Elections

Take your passion for the automotive industry to the next level.

Capricorn Member Directors are elected by Members to help shape the future of the cooperative and influence the decisions that matter. Each year, eligible Members are invited to nominate, vote and have their say in who represents their zone at Board level.

As a Member‑owned cooperative, Capricorn’s success depends on strong leadership and diverse perspectives from across our membership.

About Director Elections

Director Elections give Capricorn Members the opportunity to help shape the future of the cooperative by electing Directors to the Board.

Member Directors play an important role in:

  • Providing strategic oversight

  • Representing the interests of Members

  • Supporting Capricorn’s longterm sustainability and success

Director Elections are held in selected zones each year, depending on which Member Director positions are due for election. Each year, only Members in the relevant zones are eligible to nominate and vote.

     Candidate Information Pack

    Key information:

    Director ID Number

All nominees must include a Director ID number with their nomination.
A Director ID is a unique identifier required by law for company directors in Australia and is issued once and kept for life. Eligible members who wish to nominate must apply for a Director ID before submitting their nomination. Nominations without a Director ID will not be accepted.

You can apply for a Director ID at abrs.gov.au. Further information is available in the Candidate Information Pack.

    Evidence of Support

Your nomination must be supported by two Capricorn members from within your zone. Capricorn may contact these members to discuss your nomination. If you are submitting your nomination through the online form, you must upload either:

    • The Supporting Nomination Form signed by each supporting member (jointly or in counterpart) confirming their support; or
    • An email from each supporting member clearly identifying the member in the signature block and confirming their support of your nomination (where the member is a corporate entity or partnership the email should be from a director or partner of the member respectively).

    No Canvassing

Candidates must not canvass for votes. Any candidate who canvasses will be disqualified from the Director Election.
Canvassing means taking any action to influence how members vote, other than submitting your CV as part of the official voting materials distributed by Capricorn.

This includes (but is not limited to):

    • Contacting members individually or in groups
    • Using phone, email, social media or in-person communications
    • Asking others to promote you, or allowing this to occur on your behalf

Candidates may encourage members to participate in the election, but must not suggest who members should vote for.
If a member contacts a candidate using the contact details included in the candidate’s CV, the candidate may respond to questions about their CV only.

  • Step 2 – Curriculum Vitae and Photo

To put yourself forward as a candidate, you will need to complete a Curriculum Vitae (CV) in the format required.
